Welcome to Celyn class! We are a Year 5 and 6 class.
Our Teacher is Mrs Burke-Williams and we receive support from our Teaching Assistants.
Autumn Term – Wales and My Identity
This term, we will be exploring what makes Wales special and what shapes our identity and sense of belonging through our exciting topic, Wales and My Identity.
In Literacy, we will develop our persuasive writing skills by creating news editorials all about Wales before designing our own websites celebrating Welsh culture, places and people.
In Art, we will explore a range of Welsh artists and use their work as inspiration for creating our own pieces.
In Humanities, we will explore Wales through maps, developing our geographical skills as we investigate its regions, landscapes and places of significance.
In Music, we will follow Charanga’s ‘Music and Me’ module, using music to explore and express our individual identities through composition and performance.
In Science, we will investigate how exercise affects our bodies through practical experiments and investigations.
Throughout the topic, we will have lots of opportunities to celebrate Wales, explore our identities and develop our understanding of the country we call home.
The children also receive weekly P.E sessions and take part in the daily mile.
